Why should I donate through Contributary rather than directly to my favorite non-profit organization?
Your donations through Contributary not only qualify your favorite organization for a larger share of Contributary’s stretch pool, but also help organizations qualify for additional prize money. Although there is a 5% participation fee for organizations, which includes the credit card processing fee, the pro-rated stretch pool has historically exceeded that percentage.
What forms of donations are accepted?
All online donations must be made via credit or debit card. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are accepted. Cash or check donations are not accepted. Donations are tax deductible and irrevocable (donations will not be refunded) and will be for the use of your chosen charity.
Donor Advised Funds will be able to recommend distributions to participating organizations prior to the event; these grant distributions will qualify for the stretch pool through Contributary Gives.
What is the minimum donation?
The minimum donation is $25.00, so for just $25 you can be a philanthropist during Contributary Gives!
What is the maximum donation?
There is no maximum donation, you generous soul, you! However, only the first $10,000 of a donation will be eligible for the $200,000 stretch pool. Multiple $10,000 gifts to multiple organizations are accepted; each initial $10,000 gift to each organization will qualify for the stretch pool.
Will my donation be tax-deductible and how do I get my receipt?
Yes, donations are tax deductible! Your receipt contains tax-deductible information to save for your files.
Receipts are automatically e-mailed to the e-mail address provided during the donation process. If you do not receive it, you can scroll to the very bottom of this page, click Lost Receipt, and have itresent. You can also check your junk folder for e-mails from “team@contributary.com.” If no receipt is found after taking these steps, please call Contributary’s office at (814) 826-4212 and our staff will be happy to assist you.
Is donating through Contributary safe?
Yes. Contributary has partnered with Stripe to provide a secure online donation form. All donations made using Stripe’s donation forms use industry-leading Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect your information and provide a safe and secure environment for online donors.
How will this show up on my credit card statement?
“Contributary, LLC” will appear on your credit card statement. However, rest assured that your donation(s) will be designated to the appropriate organization(s).
How will my information be used?
Donors participating in Contributary Gives will have their name, email, billing address, phone number, and contribution amount shared with the nonprofit organization to which the contribution will be credited. If you choose to give anonymously, this information will not be shared with the organization designated for your gift. Contributary does not retain credit card information and your personal data will not be shared with or sold to any outside vendor or third party, except to provide the services you requested.
We use personal information that we collect to provide you services or event registrations that you requested, to send you email confirmations and/or tax receipts for your online transactions, to notify you about Contributary events or special giving opportunities, to provide you with news and updates, to comply with legal requirements and other information related to the mission of Contributary. Donor names may be recognized in the annual report or other forms of public recognition, unless you designate your gift as anonymous.
Contributary may disclose your personal information to comply with any court order, law or legal process, including a response to any government or regulatory request. If a request for personal information is made, the Foundation will notify the individual prior to the release, to allow the individual to respond to the agency. If you wish to opt-out or unsubscribe from any Contributary services or communications, please contact our office.
What constitutes a unique donor for prizes calculations?
Unique donors are determined by an algorithm that considers many data points, such as first and last name, credit card number, and address. So it may happen that two donors have the same name, but the system will know them as unique donors because they have different addresses or credit card numbers. Or a wife and husband may use the same credit card or address to donate, but they will be considered unique donors because their names are different.
How does the stretch pool work?
Contributary’s stretch pool will be pro-rated, meaning that each organization will receive a percentage of the total based on how much it raises. If the total of all eligible gifts raised during Contributary Gives is $400,000 then the pro-rated match will be $.25 on the dollar. Using this example, an organization that raised $10,000 out of a total of $400,000 raised would receive an additional $2,500 from Contributary’s matching funds.
